Costa Rican companies will be able to self-assess compliance with their sustainability commitments and tell their consumers what actions they take for the planet, people and prosperity, through the CResponsable web application.
The project was launched by the entrepreneur Laura Valenciano with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC), the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ) and the Council of Young Persons (CPJ).
“CResponsable is a progressive web app, this means that it has the benefits of an application, as well as those of a website. It does not take up space on the phone when it is downloaded and can be consulted from a tablet , computer or phone,” Valenciano said.

In addition, it is an application in continuous growth because business owners can register their company for free by filling out a form directly on the same digital platform.
Each company has to answer five questions on three axes: economy, environment and social. This information on good practices will generate a rating that can be seen by consumers and taken into account when purchasing those products or services.
To date, there are already 200 members, all ventures that have self-assessed according to sustainability criteria. “For me that is the greatest achievement, because it is usually assumed that only large companies can be managed responsibly, but no, at any scale we should be able to integrate good practices,” said the creator of the platform.
This initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, especially with Responsible Production and Consumption.
