Backstory:
Bailey had a rather unremarkable childhood, if you subtract the harassment from her mother, beatings from her father, and danger of the slums she grew up in.
Yes, rather unremarkable.
She managed to survive 16 years when the idea of dropping out of school suddenly struck. Though she was pretty smart and was looking at a rare opportunity of a scholarship, she hopped at the chance to make it on her own, escaping her home and obeying the call of the streets-
Only to fail.
She was running out of money. Down on luck. How she made it a month without dying was a mystery in itself. One day, she noticed a sign in a dusty window. She stumbled over to it. “Cash for experiments!” it read. The word ‘cash’ seemed to glow. She walked as straight as she could inside, applying instantly.
It was her first experiment and her last. Strapped to a table, the crazed scientist scurried around, flicking switches and pressing buttons. He threw a lever.
Now, fusing a human and a spirit had never been done before. That’s because it was labeled morally wrong and all research towards it was shut down. But the effects? No one had knew. And this scientist had his heart set on finding out.
She was fused, yes. Success. Did she survive… now, that is the question. To an extent, yes. To another degree, no. Not knowing what the future held, she decided to use her powers and find out.
Not that she approved of them. But they were all she had.
