Backstory: Vanhour was raised in a religious family. He was an altar boy and he saw the hope sermons brought to people. He however was an extremely intelligent boy; he was skeptic of Divine Power. As he grew older he realized even though he didn’t truly believe he would still become a man of clothe to help people through troubled times. Before he became a priest however, his family got killed, their last request being that he followed the path to priesthood. Now doubly determined he began the journey to being a priest. Finally after 3 long years he had his own chapel and spread the word. At the age of 20 he had a following of 20 people, within 2 months word of his sermons instilling hope and alleviating fears brought in 60 new members. Later, one of his followers was arrested for vigilantism; his next to sermons condemned the action but made clear the man’s heart was in the right place. During the winter of when he was 21 he saw a woman being mugged and tried to intervene but was knocked unconscious. She was found dead the next week. Wracked by guilt, he stopped preaching for a time of mourning and would pray into the late night hours. For two months this continued until one day he stood finally and shook his head. He gave up the priesthood and moved on to work feeding the homeless. A month after he turned 23 he was praying at the altar in his old chapel, after being away for two years. He was praying in the church when all other members started to leave, until he was alone. As he was kneeling a sudden light filled his head blinding his thoughts, his senses. A voice resonated deep within him commanding his attention, “Bring Justice to my people... Divine Justice.” At first he thought he had had a seizure, he went to the hospital but nothing was found, no trace of any abnormalities. Later he was sitting in his house and he noticed how dark it was. Without thinking he thought of how nice it would be for more light and he imagined light in his hands casting out the darkness. A few seconds later a staff formed in his hand, not of wood, not of metal, but of pure light. Overcome by awe he prayed for guidance in what to him seemed to be devil power. Again the light took hold of him and the voice spoke again “Use your powers in my bidding, stop those who would hurt the people of the world.” Now he roams the city stopping those who would do harm, always learning, always growing.
So far he has succeeded in his endeavor to bring down evil, except for one situation. The first mission he was ever sent on could have been considered suicide, but with the aid of his new friend DDD he survived and almost brought down two major villains. Sent to hunt escaped convicts Divine Justice had found himself up against two formidable foes named Link and Shard, one who was a beast and a man, and one who could shoot ice. In the battle following Shard was injured and Link was almost killed, but a dark force took over and let the two escape. Later DJ found that Shard had been killed from ice freezing over her entire body.
Divine Justice then was sent to the alleys to search for skulls, when he got there he mistook a skull for a hobo and was almost killed then and there but quick thinking saved him, but not entirely from injury. When carrying off the skull, Divine Justice made a mistake in failing to maintain vigilance and was taken by surprise by two skulls and shot. Ignoring the wounds, Divine Justice was able to incapacitate them using his staff of light that has become his favorite weapon.
On his return he was sent on a new mission after healing up to investigate disturbances in the junkyard. Upon searching he encountered his old enemy Link and was almost killed, but tricked him into thinking that what they both were investigating had caused him to attack Link and Shard. Link grudgingly accepts this truce and they proceed to travel down a hole and end up being joined by several heroes and villains. Later they split up down two different paths and Divine Justice ends up being cut off from hero brethren and temporary allies in the villains by a rock fall. Traveling through an abandoned town of junk Divine Justice dismantled several robots until reaching a castle.
Now his story continues.
