This Guide will help members make a new character.
The Character Template, posted below, is a detailed list of information required for your character. You will post your character in the Characters Forum, by making a new Thread. Be sure NOT to post in the NPCs Sub Forum.
The Character Template:
Identity:
Known to Public As:
Side:
Pic:
Power Class:
Powers:
Power Origin:
Weight:
IQ:
Age:
Weakness(es):
Fame/Infamy/Reputation:
Backstory:
It might seem like a lot, but it fairly simple to fill out. Lets go over it in greater detail.
Identity: This is your characters REAL NAME. Like your name at school, whats written on your birth certificate, etc. For Example, Bruce Banner is The Hulk's IDENTITY.
Known to Public As: This is what your character is known to the Public as. This is the name people shout out when they see you. For example, Batman is what Batman is Known to the Public As.
Side:There are many sides to choose from: Heroes and Police (Good Guys), Villains (Bad Guys), Independents- Mafia, Skulls, Bounty Hunters or Agents.
Heroes and Police work for the Police, Villains work for devious, secretive people and Independents work for the Mafia or the Skulls, the Govt, or themselves. There are no "Kind Villains" or "Mean Heroes". Sure, your character might not be the most ruthless/calmest person on your side, but don't do the exact opposite of whats expected. Batman or the Punisher would probably be the meanest hero you should think of. Do NOT think of the Hulk when making a hero.
Pic: A Picture of your character will help members see who they're talking to/modding. Pictures can be found all over the internet, especially on Photobucket. If you're good at drawing, feel free to draw one. If you are not artistic, and can't find one you're looking for, several members have claimed that there are generators on the internet that you can use to make a picture. You might have to upload it to Photobucket though. Please paste the IMG link in your thread, and try to not find an image that takes up the entire page.
(Remember, IMG is )
Power Class: All that goes here is what set of Powers you have selected. The format is Board Name: Post Name. Example- Elemental- Fire. You can only have one Power Class.
Powers: When first starting out, your character is Lvl 1 (See Fame/Infamy/Reputation) Taking your Lvl, you get any powers for that Lvl in your chosen Powerset Post. A Lvl 1 Character ONLY gets the Lvl 1 Power. Once you become Lvl 2, then you'll learn the Lvl 2 Power and you still keep the Lvl 1 Power of course. Separate each power with it's own line by pressing Enter. Please copy the Power Name AND the definition of the Power, to help Staff Members when they're modding you.
Power Origin: This is how your character learned their Powerset. Natural is they've had them from birth. Experimentation is if they were experimented on, Robotic is if mechanical parts give them their powers. Mutation is if something happened, like being bitten, infected, or affected by rays or radiation. Magic is power granted from amulets or artifacts, and Endowed is if they were given by a higher power. If you have one that is not listed, feel free to suggest it to me via PM.
Weight: Weight is how much your character weighs. Please make it believable. An average American is in the 100- low 200 range, though with their diets that number is increasing. Also, make it fit in with your power. For example, it doesn't make sense that a 300 pound fat guy has super speed. Weight should be in Pounds, abbreviated lbs.
IQ: This is how smart your character is. Depending on which state your in, Retardation is usually below 65, unless you live in Alabama, where it is lower. An average IQ is about 95-115 internationally. Going over this will result in a huge drop in IQ, as we will assume you are dumb.
Age: Pretty much self explanatory. Age is in years, not months or days. Most characters tend to be teenagers, from 13-20. Since primarily teens are the ones on this site, it does make sense to base it off your age. However, if you do wish to be an adult, feel free to.
Weaknesses: Everyone, super or not, has a weakness. It needs to be something kinda general if you only have one, and it should be something somewhat common. Superman's weaknesses are Kryptonite and magic, neither being very common. A character with a specific weakness may need to have more.
Phobia (Put the Phobia in with the Weakness): This is a newer addition, and all older members have changed accordingly. Here, your character's fear is written down. Traumatic memories from your character's childhood are typically used as phobias.
Fame/Infamy/Reputation: When making a character, you start at Lvl 1. Fame is used for Heroes and Police ONLY, Infamy for Villains ONLY, and Reputation for Independents ONLY. For some reason, people don't seem to understand this. delete the other two out of the Template when filling it out.
Back Story: This is where you can go all out. Here is where you can post how your character obtained their powers (if they remember), whether or not they like them and anything else you can think of. Type as much as you want, a post can have over 60 thousand characters.
PLEASE LINK YOUR CHARACTER TO YOUR SIGNATURE!
This means that you copy the link of your thread, the post it in your Accounts Signature. For help with this, ask another member. If you do not link your Character, a Staff will link if for you at a charge of 100 Credits.
