This is perhaps one of the hardest things to do on this site. Making powersets can be easy or difficult, depending on the person.
Step 1:
In order to make a powerset, you have to have an idea in mind. Getting inspiration can be quite easy. Lets say you're watching a movie, like Superman or Batman, and a bad guy suddenly shoots fire from his hands. HEY! That looked pretty cool. What if I could do that? But you can-- if you make it into a powerset.
Step 2:
Once you have found your inspiration, its time to think: Can I come up with 10 unique things to do with fire? Hm...
If you can, then good job, you have an active imagination.
If you can't, then maybe instead of having moves be generic, make them a little more strict. For example, Fire Blast is a large blast of fire, while Flamethrower is a long path of flames.
Step 3:
Alright, its time to post. Head on over to the Suggestions Forum. Create a new Thread and begin creating your new powerset.
Step 4:
When creating your power, its best to think of the 10 powers you have in mind, and organize them from weakest to strongest. I mean, you would want someone to be able to call forth a Volcano before they could shoot a Fireball, could you?
Step 5:
If you're having trouble with either coming up with those last 2 Powers or deciding which order the powers should be in, here are a few strategies.
Strategy One:
Ask another Member. Remember the saying, "Two Heads Are Better Then One." Consorting with fellow members is a great way to make friends, and fill in those final spaces with things you may not have thought of.
Strategy Two:
Look at other powersets. Could you change something from one to the theme of your powerset?
Also, many powersets are related, as in, the same Power in a level is universal for others, just fitting each powerset's theme. The elements is the perfect example. The level one power is a blast of that element. Lvl 3 or 4 tends to a defensive move, and Lvl 5 or 6 tends to be a healing move.
Strategy Three:
Post how far you've come with your powerset on one of the many different threads we have littered around the site to help you with finishing one. Over there, the whole site could help you finish it.
Still cant come up with one? Well, maybe powerset creating isn't for you. Try making NPCs or Places.
Can you think of a Strategy thats not listed? Post here and Ill add it!
